After helping put myself through college by working at the local cable company, I moved to Chicago to pursue a career in theater. Instead (due to imemdiate financial needs) I found myself working for a 24-hour news start-up called CLTV (ChicagoLand TV News) and a division of Tribune Entertainment. During that time I grew to become a producer of arts and entertainment segments on the channel, with occasional appearances on-camera. There I was the co-recipient of a Midwest Regional Emmy award for "Outstanding Arts/Entertainment News Coverage".

Thanks to my work in Chicago, I had a nice enough demo reel to get my foot in the door at WAFB-TV in Baton Rouge, where I served as the morning news co-host for 4 years. During that period, I also occasionally anchored the weekday noon news as well as some weekend evening newscasts. Off-air I found myself in good company with the Hollywood studios and was as such invited to cover many movie premieres and interview junkets. Locally, I received an award from the Arts Council of Greater Baton Rouge  for my dedication to coverage of the area arts scene.

During my years as a broadcaster, I often found myself interviewing artists, entertainers and filmmakers. I found myself sitting across from people as diverse as Tony Bennett, Woody Allen, Harrison Ford, Patrick Stewart and David Letterman, as well as community artists, singers, dancers, actors...all of whom in some way contributed to my knowledge and appreciation of film, theater and comedy.
